Partial Dentures

What are Partial Dentures?

Partial dentures are a removable appliance which is used to substitutes missing natural teeth and surrounding tissue similar to Full Dentures. Partial dentures are recommended for patients who are missing some teeth in their upper or lower jaw. Partial dentures are able to replicate missing teeth within the surrounding natural dentition and are generally supported by clasps and other retentive properties to help with retention.

Appointments needed for Partial Dentures
In order to create Partial Dentures a minimum of 5 appointments are required.

How long will this process take?
Similar to a full dentures, partial denture appointments will generally take around 30-45 minutes each to complete to ensure proper time is taken for a comfortable denture.

These prices are dependent on the complexity of each individual treatment and materials used.

Appointment 1

The first appointment will consist of treatment planning along with primary impressions using an alginate material.

Appointment 2

Second appointment will require secondary impressions to be taken using a custom special tray which has been tailored to the individuals mouth, using PVS or alginate the ideal impressions can be taken. During this appointment the design of the Partial Denture will be shown to the patient along with any CoCr framework design which may be required.

Appointment 3

Third appointment consists of a try-in stage of the framework if required along with recording the patients bite and ideal shape, size of the teeth.

Appointment 4

Fourth appointment consists of the 'Try-in' stage where the patient will experience a final fit / check of the partial denture before being processed. This allows the patient to see the teeth and any changes that were made.

In some cases this appointment can be done previously depending on the number of teeth required.

Appointment 5

Fifth appointment consists of final insertion of the Partial Denture. From this point, the patient is able to wear the denture home and is expected to follow denture care instructions and book in for a quick follow-up a week later.
